Online tutoring for families anywhere in Florida

I'm a Florida-certified teacher and an approved Step Up For Students provider, and I teach live online lessons for children in 1st through 6th grade anywhere in Florida. Families with a Unique Abilities Scholarship (FES-UA) or a Personalized Education Program (PEP) account can often pay me directly through the Education Market Assistant (EMA).

Who online lessons help

  • Lives in Florida but outside my in-person area in Palm Beach County
  • Is homeschooled and needs a steady daytime lesson
  • Has dyslexia or signs of it and needs structured reading lessons
  • Has trouble planning, starting, or finishing work
  • Is learning English and needs reading and writing support
  • Focuses better at home than in a busy room

How it works

From our first call to your first progress review, here is what to expect.

  1. Free 15-minute fit call

We talk about your child, your goals, and whether I am the right fit.

  2. Baseline sessions

In the first one or two sessions, I use short educational skill checks and observation to see where to start. This is not a clinical evaluation.

  3. Two or three learning goals

You and I agree on a few clear goals, so you always know what we are working toward.

  4. Steady weekly sessions

In person or online, following the same calm structure each time.

  5. Four-week progress review

Every four weeks I share what has improved, what is next, and anything to adjust. You also get a short progress note each month.

What a session looks like

One 60-minute session
  1. Check in and set a goal 5 min
  2. Review 10 min
  3. Explicit instruction 25 min
  4. Supported practice and strategy use 15 min
  5. Reflect and share next steps 5 min

The 25 minutes of explicit teaching are the heart of it.

How online lessons work

Online lessons follow the same plan as my in-person lessons. Your child sees me, the lesson materials, and their own work on one screen.

Live, not recorded
Every session is a live lesson with me on Google Meet. Your child can ask questions and get feedback right away.
Hands-on tools on screen
Digital letter tiles and a shared whiteboard let your child build words, mark sounds, and write with me in real time.
Short, active parts
Lessons move in short parts, so your child stays engaged. When attention dips, we take a quick movement break.
Parents in the loop
You get a short progress note each month, and we review goals together every four weeks.

Live online lessons with a Florida-certified teacher

Online tutoring with me is a live, one-on-one lesson on Google Meet, taught by a Florida-certified teacher. Your child works with me in real time, wherever you live in Florida.

I hold a master’s in literacy and an ESOL endorsement, and I am Orton-Gillingham trained. Online lessons use the same structured, step-by-step teaching I use in person.

My home base is Lake Worth Beach in Palm Beach County, where I also teach in person. Families anywhere else in Florida work with me online.

Which services I teach online

I teach four of my services online: dyslexia tutoring, executive function tutoring, homeschool learning support, and reading support for English language learners. Each one follows the same plan online as in person.

  • Dyslexia tutoring. Orton-Gillingham-informed reading and spelling lessons, with digital letter tiles your child moves on screen.
  • Executive function tutoring. Help with planning, starting work, and keeping track of assignments, using your child’s real planner and schoolwork.
  • Homeschool learning support. Steady daytime lessons that fit your homeschool week and support your learning plan.
  • English language learners. Reading and writing support for children learning English, from an ESOL-endorsed teacher.

Not sure which one fits? We can sort that out together on the free fit call.

Is online tutoring a good fit for your child?

Online tutoring works well for many children in 1st through 6th grade who can follow a lesson on a screen. It is a good fit when you live outside my in-person area, when your child focuses better at home, or when driving to lessons is hard.

Some children need a teacher in the room, at least at first. Kindergartners meet with me in person in Palm Beach County, and on the fit call we talk honestly about whether online lessons suit your child.

Parents of younger online students sometimes sit nearby for the first few lessons. That helps with logging in and settling down, and you can step away once your child is comfortable.

Paying for online tutoring with Step Up

Families with a Unique Abilities Scholarship or a PEP account can often pay for online tutoring directly through EMA. Step Up’s rules say credentialed tutors may teach online.

For PEP families, Step Up’s PEP purchasing guide adds one detail: PEP pays for live online instruction only through an approved online or virtual provider. I am approved to teach online through Step Up, so we can look at how payment works in your EMA account together.

Private school scholarships work differently. For a Florida Tax Credit (FTC) or Family Empowerment Scholarship for Educational Options (FES-EO) account, tuition and fees come first, and leftover funds may pay for part-time tutoring.

The rate is the same for online and in-person sessions, and the same for scholarship and private-pay families. There are no discounts, gifts, or incentives tied to scholarship spending. Step Up decides eligibility and what each account can pay for, so check your own account rules before you book.

What you need at home

You need a laptop or tablet with a camera and microphone, a steady internet connection, and a quiet place to work. A phone screen is usually too small for reading lessons.

We meet on Google Meet, which is free and works in a web browser. Before the first lesson, we check the camera and sound together, so lesson time goes to learning.

Headphones with a microphone help your child hear each sound clearly. For reading lessons, a pencil and paper nearby are handy too.

Scheduling across Florida

Here are my teaching hours, in Eastern time: Weekdays 9 am to 3:30 pm. Weekends by arrangement. Daytime lessons fit homeschool and PEP families especially well.

Most of Florida is on Eastern time, but much of the Panhandle is on Central time, one hour behind. If you live there, we simply pick times that work on both clocks.

Most families start with two sessions a week, 45 to 60 minutes each. We look at the schedule again at each four-week review.

Start with a free fit call

The first step is a free 15-minute call. We talk about your child, what feels hard right now, and whether online lessons are the right fit.

You will get my honest recommendation the same day, even if the best fit is someone else.
