Free resources close to home that pair well with tutoring. Check each one's schedule before you go.
Greenacres and Palm Springs sit just west of Lake Worth Beach, so they are some of the shortest drives I make. In-person sessions usually fit easily within my travel radius of about 30 minutes, and online sessions are there for busy weeks.
Your child can start a session without a long wait for me to arrive. That makes a steady twice-weekly schedule easier to keep.
Official neighborhood names are hard to pin down in both cities, so I go by the main roads. I serve families along Lake Worth Road, 10th Avenue North, Forest Hill Boulevard, and Melaleuca Lane, and between Congress Avenue, Military Trail, and Jog Road.
That covers the older streets of Greenacres’ Original Section and the village streets of Palm Springs. If you live near one of those roads, in-person sessions are usually possible.
From home base, the Palm Springs Public Library on Cypress Lane is roughly 10 to 15 minutes away. The county library’s Greenacres Branch on Jog Road is roughly 15 to 22 minutes. These are estimates for typical traffic, not promises.
Some families prefer a public spot over a busy house. The Greenacres Branch has study rooms, but they are first come, first served, so we would keep a backup plan. The Palm Springs Public Library is another quiet option, though its website does not mention study rooms.
Each library sets its own rules, and I follow them. We choose the spot together on the fit call.
My dyslexia and reading lessons are Orton-Gillingham-informed: explicit, step by step, and multisensory. Each skill builds on the last, and every lesson reviews what came before so it sticks.
This is teaching, not therapy or diagnosis. If your child has not been evaluated and you have questions, I can share what I notice in lessons and suggest who to ask next. See dyslexia tutoring for what lessons include.
I am ESOL endorsed, so children who are learning English get reading lessons built for them. We pair phonics with vocabulary and sentence practice, so new words carry meaning, not just sounds.
A free 15-minute fit call is the simplest way to start. Tell me where you live and what you are seeing at home, and you will get my recommendation the same day.
Families in Greenacres and Palm Springs with a Unique Abilities Scholarship (FES-UA) or a Personalized Education Program (PEP) account can often pay for tutoring through Step Up For Students, with direct pay in the Education Market Assistant (EMA). The rules are the same across Palm Beach County, and my independent guide explains them in plain language.
Very close. The Palm Springs Public Library is roughly 10 to 15 minutes from my home base, depending on traffic. That short drive makes in-person sessions easy to plan.
Usually not. The Greenacres Branch library on Jog Road is roughly 15 to 22 minutes from home base, inside my usual travel radius of about 30 minutes. If traffic makes a time hard, we can meet online that day.
Yes. Some weeks a home session works best, and other weeks online is easier. The lesson plan stays the same either way, so your child keeps the same routine.
Under Step Up's rules, FES-UA and PEP can pay for part-time tutoring, and they are the only scholarships that pay for full-time private tutoring. For the Private School scholarships, tuition and fees come first, and leftover funds may pay for part-time tutoring. Step Up decides what each account covers.
