Full-time private tutoring program

I am planning a small full-time private tutoring program for families with a Unique Abilities Scholarship (FES-UA) or a Personalized Education Program (PEP) account. It is not open yet, so join the interest list to hear first when the details are ready.

Interest list open

A small group of students working through a math activity with Janessa

Who it may fit

  • Families with FES-UA or PEP who want a teacher-led alternative to a traditional school day
  • Children who do better in a very small group with one teacher
  • Students who need structured literacy woven through the whole day
  • Families who want a certified teacher planning lessons and reporting progress
  • Parents who want steady routines without leading a homeschool on their own

How it works

From our first call to your first progress review, here is what to expect.

What full-time private tutoring is

Full-time private tutoring is a scholarship option where a certified teacher provides a student's full education instead of a school. Step Up lists the scholarships that pay for it as FES-UA and PEP only.

A certified teacher
Full-time tutors need a valid Florida teaching certificate for the subject and grade.
A full year of instruction
Programs must provide at least 720 instructional hours (K-3) or 900 (grades 4-12) a year.
Small groups
A private full-time tutor may teach up to 5 students at a time, or up to 25 in a qualifying location.
Clear agreements
Programs also need attendance requirements, a participation agreement, and a published fee schedule.

What full-time private tutoring is

Full-time private tutoring is a scholarship option where a certified teacher provides a student’s whole education, in place of a public or private school. It is different from part-time tutoring, which adds sessions alongside school or homeschool.

According to Step Up, the scholarships that can pay for full-time private tutoring are FES-UA and PEP only. That means the Unique Abilities Scholarship (FES-UA) and the Personalized Education Program (PEP).

I call my planned program the Full-Time Personalized Learning Program. It is not open yet, and this page will change as the details are confirmed.

What Step Up requires of a full-time program

Full-time programs follow stricter rules than part-time tutoring. Here is what Step Up’s full-time tutoring guide requires.

Programs also need attendance requirements, a participation agreement, and a published fee schedule. You can read every requirement in the full-time private tutoring guide.

I hold a Florida teaching certificate, the kind of credential this program requires. Before enrollment opens, I will make sure the certificate covers each subject and grade the program offers.

How the program is planned

The program is planned as a very small group, within Step Up’s group size limit, so every child gets direct teaching and close attention. Reading, writing, and learning strategies would run through the whole day.

The way I teach now carries over. Each child would start with a baseline from educational skill checks and observation, then clear learning goals and regular progress updates in plain language.

Like all my services, the program is educational instruction. It is not therapy, diagnosis, or treatment of any kind.

What will be posted before enrollment opens

Before enrollment opens, I will post the full program details on this page. That includes:

  • The subjects taught and the grade levels served
  • The school-year calendar
  • Daily and weekly hours
  • How progress is measured and reported to families
  • The published fee schedule

There is no opening date yet, and enrollment will not open until every piece is ready. Families on the interest list hear first.

How the program would be paid for

FES-UA and PEP families would pay through the Education Market Assistant (EMA), Step Up’s online account, using direct pay. The fee schedule will be published before enrollment and applies the same way to every family.

There are no discounts, gifts, or incentives tied to scholarship spending. Step Up decides eligibility, so check with Step Up about your own scholarship before you plan a change.

Is a full-time program right for your child?

A full-time program is a big change, so it is worth thinking through carefully. It may fit if your child does better in a very small group, needs steady routines, or has not found the right fit in a larger school.

It may not fit if your child thrives with many classmates, or if you prefer to lead your own homeschool. In that case, one-on-one reading and writing tutoring or homeschool learning support may suit you better.

To learn more about funding, read the Unique Abilities Scholarship guide or the PEP guide.

Paying with Step Up or AAA

The program is not open yet, so nothing can be booked or paid for now. When it opens, FES-UA and PEP families would pay through direct pay in EMA.

Part-time and full-time tutoring compared

Who might a full-time program fit?

It may fit families who want a very small, teacher-led setting instead of a traditional school day. It can suit children who need structured literacy and steady routines all day long. We would talk through fit on a free call before anyone enrolls.

How is full-time tutoring paid for?

Step Up lists the scholarships that pay for full-time private tutoring as FES-UA and PEP only. Families pay through Step Up's Education Market Assistant, and Step Up decides eligibility. The fee schedule will be published before enrollment and applies the same way to every family.

When will the program open?

There is no opening date yet. Subjects, calendar, hours, progress reporting, and the published fee schedule will all be posted before enrollment opens. Families on the interest list hear first.

How do I join the interest list?

Use the short form on this page. I only ask for your name, email, and your child's grade, and there is no commitment. I will email you when program details are posted.

Is this the same as your part-time tutoring?

No. Part-time tutoring adds one-on-one sessions alongside school or homeschool, and it is open now. The full-time program would replace school for enrolled students.
